Bessette, Joyce E. ALBANY Joyce E. Bessette, 80, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the Albany County Nursing Home in Colonie. Born in Johnstown on November 14, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Florence Nellis Lester. Joyce attended Watervliet High School and was a resident of Watervliet and Cossayuna Lake in Greenwich. Joyce worked as a hairdresser for many years at Jean's Beauty Shop in Latham. She held an officer position in the Greenwich Elks Lodge 2223, a member of the Battenkill Country Club where she scored a hole-in-one and a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Shrine Church in Troy. Joyce loved her garden and collecting rocks from different places that she visited. Most importantly, Joyce loved her children and her grandchildren. Her family meant the world to her. Joyce was the beloved wife of 63 years to the late George M. Bessette; devoted mother of Michael (Lynn) Bessette of Troy, Beverly Bessette, Brian (Rosanne) Bessette, Raymond (Pamela) Bessette, all of Watervliet and the late Richard W. Bessette; proud grandmother of Michael, Brian, Amanda and Eric Bessette, Erin Daley, Elaine Riddell and Candace (Matthew) Fox; great-grandmother of Lillith and Layla Bessette, Liam and Miley Riddell, Bailey and Ryker Fox and Ryan Garrison. She was the sister to the late George Lester, the late Jean (Joseph) Wunderlich, the late Gail (Tom) Martin and Eleanor Gambelli. She was the lifelong friend of Kay Hughes of Watervliet; she is also survived by many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends. The funeral will be Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 8:45 a.m. from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Shrine Church, Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment to follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Watervliet. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions would be appreciated to the , 4 Pine West Plaza, Suite 405, Washington Ave. Extension, Albany, NY 12205.
