Longshore, Lynn VOORHEESVILLE Lynn DeLuccia Longshore, 67, passed away peacefully at home, March 16, 2013. Lynn was born in Long Island City, N.Y., daughter of the late Albert and Helen Schiffer Bergendahl. She was a graduate of Monticello High school. Lynn graduated from the University at Albany in 1967, majoring in social studies and minoring in art. She earned her master's degree in history from the University of Albany in 1970. Lynn retired from Tryon Residential Center after 33 years teaching in a wide va riety of subjects and serving on many committees. She also worked on several summer school programs, including testing, substituting and working on several administrative projects. After retirement, Lynn served as a substitute teacher in several area school districts. Lynn has been an active member of Center Glenville United Methodist Church and most recently McKownville United Methodist Church. She has served in many church leadership roles including Sunday school teacher and trustee. Within the community she was an active member of Girl Scouts, Meals on Wheels and Albany Medical Center Auxiliary as a member and volunteer. Lynn served on the Board of Weatherfield Home Owners Association. One of her passions was membership in the Empire State Capital Volkssporters where Lynn loved to walk for friendship and exercise. She completed at least one 10km walk in every one of the 50 states touring with Travel Walk. Lynn loved her active life that included kayaking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, walking, camping, reading, sewing, home improvement projects, telling great stories and most importantly helping others. Survivors include her husband, Alan and daughter Lori DeLuccia; stepdaughter, Joanne (Michael) VonStetina of Madison, Fla.; stepchildren, Jay Longshore of Philadelphia, Pa., Amy (Robert) Robinson of Stanwell Park, NSW and Jon (Christine) Longshore of Guilderland; brothers, Albert (Dorothy) Bergendahl of Essex Junction, Vt. and Robert (Marlene) Bergendahl of Lennox, Mass.; brothers-in-law, Donald (Mary) DeLuccia of Clifton Park, Peter (Evelyn) DeLuccia of Guilderland and Richard DeLuccia of Rotterdam; sister-in-law, Marie Marshall of Malone, N.Y. Lynn was also survived by her Uncle Walter (Diane) Schiffer of Dalton, Mass.; along with step granddaughters, nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Frank DeLuccia and brother in-law, Anthony DeLuccia. A memorial service will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon, March 23, at the McKownville United Methodist Church, 1565 Western Ave., Albany, NY 12203, followed by a reception, to which relative and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, it is respectively requested that those who desire, contribute to Community Hospice of Albany County, Animal Protective Foundation of Schenectady or McKownville United Methodist Church.
