Waiwood, Sr. Mary ROUND TOP Sister Mary Cecilia Waiwood of the Daughters of Mary, Mother of Our Savior, died Friday, December 27, 2013, at the age of 35, at St. Joseph's Novitiate in Round Top. Born Ellen Conlon on August 20, 1978, in Cleveland, Ohio, she is survived by parents Michael and Ann (O'Reilly); siblings, Mary, Kathleen Crawford (Ian), William, Richard, Patricia, Edward, and nephews William and Neal. After graduating from St. Augustine Academy in Lakewood, Ohio, in 1996, she entered the Daughters of Mary in September. Sister professed vows in July 1999 and began teaching at Immaculate Conception Academy (Cincinnati) that fall. In 2004 she was transferred to St. Pius V School (Long Island). Sister primarily taught grades 3-4. She also taught high school computer classes, and she trained altar servers. Sister was known for her talents as a seamstress and storyteller and for her enthusiasm, imagination, and selflessness. Her great love for youth was inspired by her life of prayer and devotion to the Sacred Heart and Blessed Mother. Sister was diagnosed with leukemia in January 2012. During her illness she suffered patiently, cheerfully, and with resignation to God's will. Sister's requiem Mass will be offered by His Excellency, the Most Reverend Joseph Santay on Monday, December 30, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Novitiate, Round Top. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Novitiate Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Daughters of Mary, St. Joseph's Novitiate, P.O. Box 205, Round Top. May she rest in peace.
