Pouchak, Michael COHOES Michael Pouchak, 91, entered into eternal life on Sunday, September 22, 2013. Born in Maplewood, Michael was the son of the late Hilary and Paraska Bodnaryk Pouchak. He had been a resident of Cohoes since 1961. Michael was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II having served with 449th Bomb Group, (Heavy) of the 47th Wing of the 15th Air Force in Europe. As a flight engineer and tail gunner on board a B-24 Liberator bomber, Michael flew in 35 bombing missions and participated in campaigns in Rome Arno, the Northern Apennines, PO Valley, Rhineland and Balkans (air combat). Following a three-year tour of duty, Michael was honorably discharged in October 1945 with the rank of technical sergeant. For his service he was awarded the Air Medal with three Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, European, African and Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with five Bronze Stars, the Overseas Service Bar and the Good Conduct Medal. Michael was an employee of the Norton Company in Watervliet where he worked for 43 years before his retirement in May 1983. He was a member of St. Basil Russian Orthodox Church in Maplewood and enjoyed gardening, reading and spending time with his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Angela Rose Testo Pouchak, formerly of Troy; his loving daughter and son-in-law, Angela (Joel) Tremblay of Colonie; his cherished grandchildren, Eric Michael Tremblay and Alyssa Marie Tremblay; his dear sister, Helen Plaskon of Maplewood as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Pauline Nystoriak, Anne Palmer, Paul Pouchak, Joseph Spiak, Eva Chartrand, John Pouchak and Ethel Spiak. His funeral will be held from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet on Friday, September 27, 2013 at 11 a.m. and at 11:30 a.m. in St. Basil Russian Orthodox Church, Maplewood. Entombment will follow in the Briarwood-Fernwood Mausoleum at Memory Gardens, Colonie. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may also visit with Michael's family on Thursday from 4 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home, during which time, the Panikhida service will be held at 6 p.m. Contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 in memory of Michael Pouchak.
