Gwatida, Mitchell M. EAST GREENBUSH Mitchell M. Gwatida, age 23 years, passed away suddenly Tuesday, April 1, 2014. Mickey was born in Harare, Zimbabwe and in 1997 he moved to Albany and had resided in East Greenbush since 2002. Mitch attended Goff Middle School and graduated from Columbia High School in 2009. Mitch also attended Hudson Valley Community College. He served in the United States Air Force from 2010-2013. Mickey enjoyed skateboarding, snowboarding, gaming, music and had a love for cars. He currently was working for the Guilderland YMCA as a youth counselor and previously for many summers worked at the East Greenbush YMCA Summer Camp. Son of Jeff Gwatida and Angela Mtambu; brother of Cara and Eudora Thurston. Mickey is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousin and many friends. Funeral service from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer Friday, April 4 at 6 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
