VanDenburgh, Nelson G. Sr. LATHAM Nelson Gould VanDenburgh Sr., 82, died peacefully under the care of hospice in Wells Beach, Maine with his loving family at his side. Born in Troy on February 8, 1932, he was the son of the late Stanley T. and Irene Gould VanDenburgh. Mr. VanDenburgh was raised in Watervliet and was a 1949 graduate of Watervliet High School. He enlisted in the US Navy during the Korean War and served aboard the aircraft carrier, the USS Palau. Upon returning home, he was employed by the FBI in Albany as an administrator and later began a career in sales and property management working for Pitney Bowes, Standard Register where he designed a hunting license, Tri-City Rentals and last at Rossetti Associates before retiring in 1995. He also was a door attendant for Bowen Funeral Home in Latham. He was a former member of the Colonie Lodge of Elks and the Newtonville United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, vacationing and spending quality time with his family. He is the beloved husband of Susan N. Phalen VanDenburgh; devoted father of Deborah A. (Robert) Boswell Sr. of Latham, Sandra L. Vandenburgh of Albany, Diane S. (Neil) Leach of Cohoes and Nelson G (Kari) VanDenburgh Jr. of Latham; proud grandfather of Robert Boswell Jr., Westly Boswell, Jason and Tyler Sowek, Sarah and Kristen Leach, Emily, Nelson III and Jack VanDenburgh; great-grandfather of Chloe Boswell. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Edward Liebers, Community Hospice of Albany and Hospice of Southern Maine and Prime Care Medical Supply of Wells, Maine for their compassionate care of Nelson. The funeral service will be Wednesday morning at 10 at the Bowen & Parker Bros. Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Road, Latham with Rev. Brian Gould officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens, Colonie.
