Lugert, Paul E. GREENPORT Paul E. Lugert, 86, of Greenport, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2013 at his residence. Born October 15, 1927 in Hudson, he was the son of the late John and Agnes (Holtmier) Lugert. Paul served in the US Navy during World War II aboard the USS Piedmont. He worked as a printer for over 50 years with various newspapers including the Register Star, the Chatham Currier, and retiring from the Albany Times Union after 25 plus years. He was a member of the Hudson VFW 1314, the Hudson Elks Club, the Greenport Pumper #1, and the Elks Club Bowling League. He enjoyed bowling, skiing, traveling, gardening, and loved the Giants and Mets. Paul is survived by his wife, Jo-Ann (Floutin) Lugert of Greenport; two daughters, Carol Lugert (companion Daniel Schoonmaker) and Nancy Lugert, and his brother, George Arthur Lugert. He was predeceased by four brothers, John "Jack", Harold, Alfred, and Francis. Visiting hours are 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the Bates & Anderson - Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home. Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cedar Park Cemetery.
