Gordon, Peter E. TROY Peter E. Gordon, 58, a retired Troy police officer, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2013 after a long illness. Born in Troy, he was the son of Joan VanDeloo Gordon of Brunswick and the late Edward D. Gordon and beloved husband of Ellen Denio Gordon of Troy. Raised and educated in Troy, he was a graduate of Troy High School, class of 1973 and Hudson Valley Community College, class of 1975. Peter enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1975 to serve his country. He served at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio and Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska assigned to the Strategic Air Command. He also served in the Air Force Intelligence Unit in the Strategic Air Command for two years at Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany, where he was promoted to sergeant in 1980. Peter returned home and became a Troy police officer in 1980; he worked with the patrol and traffic units, retiring February 2013. He was the PBA recording secretary for many years. He was an Eagle Scout, Troop 50, with the former St. Paul the Apostle Church, Troy and a member of the Order of the Arrow. Peter was a member of the Capital District High School and College Swimming Officials for 25 years and a member of the Capital District Track Officials for 24 years. He loved the Adirondacks, running and a good hot fudge sundae from Snowman! Survivors, in addition to his mother Joan and wife Ellen, include his two daughters, Heather L. Dziarcak of Clifton Park and Melissa J. Gordon of Troy; he was the proud grandfather of William D. Dziarcak and Sophie M. Dziarcak; his three brothers, Perry M. Gordon (Kate) of Oxford, Ohio, Paul R. Gordon (MaryAnne) of Troy and Jeffrey A. Gordon of Troy; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at the Transfiguration Parish, 50 Hillview Drive, Speigletown. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh.
