Connery, Raymond A. WATERVLIET Raymond A. Connery, 65, entered into eternal life on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Green Island on November 7, 1947, Raymond was the son of Helen Mendonca Connery of Green Island and the late Raymond A. Connery Sr. He was a graduate of the former St. Joseph's Elementary School in Green Island and LaSalle Institute in Troy. Ray enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was granted an early honorable discharge to attend the FBI Academy. He was employed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation for nearly 20 years and later went into private investigative work and worked at the unified court system at the Albany County Court for many years. Most recently, Ray was employed by Orange Motors where he began working as a salesman. He eventually was promoted to sales manager and worked in that capacity until his retirement. In addition to his father, Ray was predeceased by his sister, Susan Connery Towne; his brothers-in-law, Scott Towne and Don Carpentier; and his special uncle, David Mendonca. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Sherry Amash Connery; his sisters, Lynne Carpentier and Jeanne (Bob) Mailloux; his daughters, Colleen (Gene) Bradley and Kati (George) Bradley. He was grandfather "Pip" to Tyler, Faith, Brendan and Devin Bradley. Ray is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the dear friend and brother-in-law of Bob Kappes. The family would like to thank the entire staff of the Stratton V.A. Medical Center in Albany including Dr. Vimala Thalody and Marianne Boyajian, and Elizabeth and Erin of the Community Hospice of Rensselaer County for their loving care which helped to see Ray through the past two years of his battle with cancer. Your dedication will never be forgotten. A very special thank you to brother-in-law Bob Mailloux who was with Ray and Sherry every step of the way. A funeral service will be held for Ray on Monday, August 26, 2013 at 10 a.m. in the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet where the Rev. L. Edward Deimeke will officiate. Entombment will follow in the Community Mausoleum at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Friends are invited to attend and may also visit with Ray's family on Sunday from 4 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
