Leonard, Robert A. Sr. WATERFORD Robert A. Leonard Sr., 87, of Bluebird Court, died on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Arnold V. Leonard Sr. and Mildred Dauphin Leonard. Bob was a 30-year member of the Iron Workers Local 12 in Albany, and he owned and operated Metro Erectors in Waterford for a number of years until his retirement in 1988. He was a past supervisor of the Town of Waterford and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, who served in World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of the Cohoes Waterford Lodge of Elks, where he was past exalted ruler and also served as former state vice president. A 60-year member of the J.W. Ford Hose Co., he also belonged to the VFW Waterford Memorial Post 5800 and the Knights of Columbus Council 237 in Waterford. Bob was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Waterford and was active in parish affairs having organized the parish bazaar for a number of years. He was the husband of the late Marjorie Cronin Leonard, who died in 2008. He is father of Gerald R. Leonard (Mary Beth) of Waterford, Robert A. Leonard Jr. (Christine) of Cambridge, Jill M. Alix (Dale) of Maplewood, Thomas M. Leonard (Joann) of Quebec, Canada and Karen A. Bizzarro (Carmen) of Waterford. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 13 great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Arnold V. Leonard Jr., predeceased him. Funeral services will be Monday, September 9, 2013 at 8:30 a.m. from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Route 32), Waterford and at 9 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Interment will be in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
