Darwak, Stanley R. COHOES Stanley R. Darwak, 81, of Continental Avenue in Cohoes, died suddenly on Wednesday, May 7, 2014. Born in Cohoes, he was the son of the late Zygmund and Anna Kasner Darwak, and was the beloved husband of Patricia Montanino Darwak of Cohoes. Raised and educated in Cohoes, he attended St. Agnes School and Cohoes High School. He was a communicant of St. Michael's Church in Cohoes. Stanley was a Cohoes firefighter for 38 years, retiring in April of 1992. He drove a cab part-time, for Ben Cook Taxi for many years and also worked for RPI as an environmental specialist. He was a happy, gentle, warm-hearted man. He had a smile and a hand shake for everyone he met, and had a way of making those in his presence feel good. He loved his family as much as any man could, including our beautiful dog Sunny. We all loved him and we will miss him dearly. He is survived by his wife Patricia, who he married on September 13, 1958; two daughters, Linda Turpin (David) of Charlotte, N.C. and Sharon Zapp (Cole) of Cohoes; his son, Stanley M. Darwak of Cohoes; his grandchildren, Ryan and Fallon Buckley of Cohoes; brother, James Darwak (late Lorraine) of Cohoes; brother-in-law, Salvadore Montanino (late Carol and Mary) of Troy; sisters-in- law, Anna Virginia (Jean) Carey (late Dennis) of Whitehall and Donna Darwak (late Joseph) and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Lillian and brother-in- law, Carl Montanino (Ann Marie). Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 9 a.m. from St. Michael's Church, 20 Page Ave. in Cohoes where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery in Waterford. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the Frank P. McDonald & Son Funeral Home, 870 Second Avenue (124th & 125th Streets) in Troy on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. If desired, contributions in Stanley's name may be made to the Mohawk & Hudson River Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204.
