Adams, Thomas Q. MECHANICVILLE Thomas Q. Adams, 67, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at St. Mary's Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Albany, May 20, 1946, he was the son of the late Charles and Margaret Walsh Adams. Tom attended St. Paul's Parochial School, was a graduate of Catholic Central High School, Siena College Graduate and continued his education at New York University (NYU) and City University of New York (CUNY) where he received his master's degree. Education was an important part of Tom's life, teaching for 7 years with the New York City School District and later becoming a teaching mentor for the Lansingburgh School District. He also served on the Mechanicville School District Board of Education. A lead lab technician with General Electric Silicon Products Division in Waterford, Tom retired after 25 years in 2000. He was a lifelong member of the Assumption-St. Paul Parish in Mechanicville. Tom had three passions, traveling, reading, and movies. He often took one of his nieces or nephews on trips out of the country. With some 1,500 books, he never lacked for something to do at home. Tom's greatest joy was taking the kids to a movie. He often watched UConn's women's basketball games with his brother John. His siblings, Charlene and John, were his caregivers over the past year. Tom's family would like to extend heartfelt thanks for the support given by the staff of St Mary's Hospice and Schuyler Ridge Rehabilitation Center. Tom was a compassionate and giving person to all who knew him. He made our world a little brighter and a whole lot more fun. He is now resting peacefully, reunited with his mom and dad. For all of his good doings, Tom deserved the very best. Survivors include his brother, John and wife Ellen Adams; sister, Charlene and husband Fred LaRose, both of Mechanicville; nieces and nephews, Charles and Chase Adams, Meghan (Vince) Rapacciuolo, Michael (Nirisa) Adams, Jason LaRose and Joyell (Mike) Pugliese, as well as nine grandnieces and nephews.
