Comley, William Dodson CLIFTON PARK William Dodson Comley, 87, died Saturday, January 25, 2014 at his home in Clifton Park. Born in Cohoes on August 2, 1926, he was the son of the late Alec and Florrie Dodson Comley. He was raised and educated in Cohoes and at the age of 17, enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served in the Pacific aboard the USS Euryale as an electronic technician mate 2nd class. Upon returning home, he attended Hudson Valley Community College where he studied construction technology. He was employed by Casabonne Bros. Construction in Troy as a union carpenter for over 35 years before retiring 25 years ago. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 370 in Albany. He enjoyed golf, whether playing or watching and always was working at a renovation project at one of his children's homes. He was the husband of the late Frances T. Gendron Comley; devoted father of Sharon (Michael) Kowalski and Nancy Comley both of Watervliet, William (Mary) Comley of Schenectady, Mary Beth (Joseph) Knapik of Cohoes, Jeff (Janice) Comley of Niskayuna and Eric (Joelle) Comley of Wake Forest, N.C.; proud grandfather of Michael (Michelle) Kowalski, Jennifer (Karl) Kerr, Jason (Amanda) Kowalski, Matthew Kowalski, Emily, Caroline and Daniel Comley, Rachel (Brian) Vaillancourt, Jillian and Gregory Knapik, Alec and Elizabeth Comley, Jordyn, Paige and Amanda Comley; great-grandfather of Frances and Charlotte Kowalski, Ian, Emma and Vivi Kerr and Adrianna Kowalski; brother of Beryl (late Blake) Danner of Columbus, Ohio, Robert (Mary) Comley of Geneseo and Richard (Pat) Comley of Scotia. Bill was predeceased by his brothers, Jack (late Alice) Comley of Fredericksberg, Va. and Albert (Lois) Comley of Schenectady, and his sister, Sally Mae (John) Imirie of Arlington Heights, Ill. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial Mass on Monday, February 3 at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 2416 7th Avenue, (corner of 25th St. & 7th Ave.) Watervliet. His ashes will be interred following the Mass in the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. There will be no calling hours.
