DAVID KEGLEY Obituary
KEGLEY Funeral services for David Barney Kegley, Jr., 69, will be held 10AM Saturday, October 5, 2013 in the chapel at JACKSONVILLE MEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 111 Blanding Blvd. Orange Park, FL with Rev. Rick Crews officiating. Interment will follow in Middleburg United Methodist Church Cemetery. David was born on September 14, 1944 in Jacksonville, FL. He went home to be with the Lord on September 27, 2013 in Ft. Pierce, FL surrounded by his family. David grew up participating in the Boy Scouts he enjoyed many camping trips on the lake and achieved the honor of being an Eagle Scout. David graduated from Ribault High School in 1962 playing basketball and ran track while participating in the Key Club. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp soon after graduation and served two tours of duty overseas during the Vietnam War. He married Nancy Roberts on October 12, 1963 prior to shipping out for his first tour. David was honorably discharged in 1966, he attended FCCJ while working and raising his family. He continued his education at the University of Florida. David made his career in accounting with several different companies. He was also a member of the Kiwanis and continued to sponsor Key Club activities. In 2000 David and Nancy retired and moved to the Florida Keys to be closer to the water that David loved. He spent many hours of his life on the water as an avid fisherman or was just happy reading a book there. David loved his family, and Nancy was the love of his life until his grandchildren Allie and Nicholas arrived and stole his heart as he was affectionately known by them as Grumps . David was predeceased by his parents, David and Marian Kegley; and his brother, James Kegley, Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Nancy R. Kegley; daughter, Lori L. Marcin (Chip); son, David B. Kegley, III; four brothers, Paul I Kegley, Sr. (Kathy), Walter M. Kegley, Sr. (Harlene), Charles (Chuck) W. Kegley, Sr. (Jo Ann), and Richard (Rick) A. Kegley, Sr. (Susan); brother-in-law, James (Jim) B. Roberts, III (Susan); sister-in law, Selina R. Dube; two grandchildren, Allie and Nicholas Marcin, several nieces, nephews and many other loving family members and friends. The family will receive friends on Friday (TODAY) from 5PM-7PM at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home. David Kegley, Jr. touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
