EDNA BISHOP Obituary
BISHOP Edna Rogers Bishop passed away Saturday, December 1st, 2012 in Jacksonville. She was born June 19, 1916 to Julia Mary Davis-Rogers and Henry Clifford Rogers in Lyons, GA. She was preceded in death by a brother, Allen Rogers and a sister, Lillian Rogers-Harrison. She attended the University of Georgia Woman's College and obtained her bachelors degree in teaching. She taught elementary school for many years before starting her career as the secretary to the respiratory therapist of the old St. Luke's Hospital in Jacksonville Fl., which is where she retired from. She was married to Emory A. Bishop on November 12, 1939 in Jacksonville Fl. She was a member of the Arlington Woman's Club for approximately 40 years and attended many functions at the Arlington Senior Center. She was a member of The Fort Caroline United Methodist Church, but had been attending the Arlington Baptist Church for several years. She was an avid bridge player, a talented seamstress, devoted wife, caring mother and grandmother, excellent southern cook, and many considered Edna their best friend. Edna is survived by her children, Dawn Bishop, and Diane Stickell; Grandchildren, Heather McMahan-Meade, Sgt. Robert McMahan, Julia Breeland, David McMahan, and Thomas Mernagh; Great Grandchildren, Mark Fueston, Nathaniel McMahan, Charles McMahan, Elizabeth McMahan, Kelsey Breeland, and Kinsley Breeland. There will be a Memorial Service for Edna, 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 5, at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd. Jacksonville, FL. Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com
