George Andrew Boyko Obituary
BOYKO George Andrew Boyko, 79, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on June 22, 2014. Born in Windber, Pennsylvania to George and Susan Boyko. He graduated from Windber High School, was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp and a graduate of Jones Business College. George moved to Jacksonville in 1956 and married his high school sweetheart, they were married for 57 years. He loved sports and together with his wife they made his dream of owning his own sport shop come true. In 1969 they opened Boyko s Sporting Goods in downtown Jacksonville, which later was moved to Beach Blvd. and renamed Boyko s Big Oak Sport Shop. They enjoyed working together for 37 years, and retirement for 14 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4727 Council. George was an avid golfer and fisherman. George loved his family very much, and will be missed by his loving wife, Ann Crognale Boyko; daughter Terri Corbitt (Gene); grandson, Andrew Cooper Jones (Meaghan); great grandson, William Grayson Jones; sisters Rita Boyko and Mary Ann Kuhnel (Glenn). He is preceded in death by his son Christopher Boyko; father George, and mother, Susan Boyko. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Thursday, June 26, with a vigil service at 7 pm, at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd. A Celebration of the Mass will be celebrated 11 am Friday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11665 Ft. Caroline Rd., Jacksonville, FL. 32225. Interment in Arlington Park Cemetery. A reception will follow the cemetery service back at the Church. Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com
