ASPINWALL George Newell Aspinwall, 89, of Fleming Island, FL passed away Friday, April 25, 2014. He was born to the late Nolan and Katie (Creech) Aspinwall, November 5, 1924, in Pierce County, GA. He was married to the late Betty Keen Aspinwall on March 20, 1947. George served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Ellison and USS Pringle in World War II engaging in many sea battles. He was awarded numerous medals including the World War II Victory. He began a career as a homebuilder and real estate broker in Jacksonville, FL in the 1950's and was recognized by the North Florida Association of Realtors as top salesman. George was a member of the Riverside Masonic Lodge #266, Scottish Rite Temple and Morocco Temple of the Shrine. He served as President of the Morocco Sultans of the Morocco Temple in 1970. George enjoyed fishing, gardening, coin collecting, crossword puzzles and reading the Sunday comics. He is survived by his two children: Betty Anne Warren (Randy) of Fleming Island and James Arnold Aspinwall of St. Augustine; his grandchildren: George Alan Titshaw of Ormond Beach, FL, Lana Champion (Richard) of Saint Johns, FL, Jason Aspinwall (Carmen) of Orlando, FL and James Aspinwall (Stacey) of Orlando, FL; his great grandchildren: W. Colton Champion, Emily Aspinwall, Alexander Aspinwall and Amanda Aspinwall. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 30 in the chapel of Hewell & Sons located at 4747 Main Street. A viewing will be held at 10 a.m., followed by the service at 11 a.m. and then the graveside ceremony at 1 p.m. The graveside ceremony will be held at Keen Cemetery located at 431128 Keen Cemetery Road in Callahan, FL.
