Obituary Condolences

MARTIN Jarell William Martin, age 64, passed away in Jacksonville, FL May 7, 2013. Jarell was born December 7, 1948 in Arcadia, FL. He moved to Jacksonville, FL in 1973. Jarell was an educator and coach. He was a teacher in the field of Agriculture and School Administrator for over 30 years in Duval County. Jarell was also a veteran of the U.S. Army. He graduated from DeSoto High School, Class of 1966. He was awarded his Bachelor's Degree and Masters Degree from the University of Florida. He was a member and past president of the Kiwanis International, Jacksonville, FL, and a member of the Safari Club International, North Florida chapter. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, especially the Florida Gators. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors are two sons; Jarell William (Angel) Martin Jr. and Christopher A. (Jessica) Martin both of Jacksonville, FL, a daughter; Kara R. (Eric) Steacy, Tampa, FL, his mother; Ruth Alberta Crews Hirt Yarborough; one brother; Greg (Jane) Martin, Arcadia, FL, and one sister, Cathy (Beatty) D'Alessandro, St. Louis, MO, and two grandchildren Leighton and Cameron. Jarell also leaves to mourn his passing, his significant other, Vicki Murphey, Jacksonville, FL. He is preceded in death by his father, Elmer Martin. Visitation and services will be conducted in Jacksonville, FL by Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin, 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL at 5:00PM until 6:00PM Saturday evening, May 11, 2013 with funeral services directly following at 6:00PM. Graveside funeral services and burial will be on Monday, May 13, 2013 at 1:00PM in Pine Level Campground Cemetery, Arcadia, FL. Rev. Greg Martin will officiate. The DeSoto Honor Guard will render military honors at the graveside. Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Arcadia, FL is in charge of the arrangements.
