Obituary Condolences

MCGREW Mr. John Gregory Johnny McGrew Sr., age 66, of Yulee, passed away on Tuesday morning, May 14, 2013 at his home. Born in Raymondville, MO he was the eldest of three children born to the late John Thomas and Aggie Louise Gregory McGrew. Grandson of Tilford Stonewall and Laura Gregory. He graduated from Houston High School in 1965. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and was stationed at NAS Jax. Mr. McGrew served aboard the USS Intrepid and USS Saratoga, and was a Vietnam Veteran. In March of 1966 he married Dorothy Theresa Korey. Shortly after being honorably discharged, he was employed by Seaboard Coastline where he worked until retiring as a Manager from CSX Transportation in 2006. During this time, he served as President of the Local Clarkes Union and on the Board of Directors of the Seaboard Coastline Credit Union. After moving top Yulee in 2007, he and his wife became affiliated with St. Michaels Catholic Church where he was a 4th degree Knight, as a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a Volunteer with the Nassau County Sheriff's Auxiliary and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Forever devoted to his family, Mr. McGrew leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Dorothy Korey Dottie McGrew, Yulee, FL, their daughter, Angela Louise McGrew Martyn (Billy), Yulee, FL, their two sons, John Gregory Greg McGrew, Jr. (Carrie), Jacksonville, FL, Robert Thomas Bobby McGrew, Jacksonville, FL, a brother, Robert Leo McGrew, Fernandina Beach, FL, a sister, Louise Ky Sciotto, Houston, MO, six grandchildren, Savannah, Alexandra, Peyton, Christian, Alexa, Hannah, a great grandson, Shane and several nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Monday, May 20, 2013 at St. Michael Catholic Church with Father O'Shea, Celebrant. Mr. McGrew will be laid to rest in Jacksonville National Cemetery with military honors. His family will receive friends on Sunday from 3 -5pm at Oxley Heard funeral Home.
