John R. Montfort Obituary
MONTFORT Please Sign the Guestbook @ John R. Montfort, born November 18, 1922 in Newburg, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on March 28, 2014 at the age of 91. John was a 20 year Marine and Navy Veteran who served his country bravely in the South Pacific as a Marine during World War II where he was awarded the Purple Heart and Silver Star during these campaigns. John went on to finish his military career in the Navy after the war ended. John went on to work for and retired from Howe Richardson Scale Company where he earned the respect and admiration of his co-workers and customers alike. John will be missed by his beloved wife of 37 years, Lois Montfort, three sons; Les Armstrong (Sue), Gene Hare and Glen Hare, two daughters; Terri Odom (Ken) and Anita Slaymaker and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held, Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 12:30pm in Faith Memorial Baptist Church, 6731 Ramona Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205 with Brother Bob Anderson and Pastor Gerald Scheck officiating followed by interment in Jacksonville National Cemetery with US Marine Honors at 2:30pm. The family will receive friends at the church from 6:00 -8:00pm Tuesday. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to, Home Bound Ministry, C/O Faith Memorial Baptist Church in John's honor. John will be deeply missed by his many dear family members and friends.
