PAT CURNUTTE Obituary
CURNUTTE Mrs. Pat Curnutte, age 84, of Fernandina Beach passed away on Tuesday evening, January 22, 2013 at Baptist Medical Center- Jacksonville. Born in Grafton, VA, she was one of three daughters born to the late Wilton Andrew Moore and Mary Lorraine Green. Pat grew up in the Grafton area where she met and married Donald P. Curnutte Sr., a young sailor, in 1946. After WWII, she moved to Florida when her husband was transferred to Green Cove Springs and then eventually to Mayport Naval Station in the early 1950s. The Curnutte family lived in Jacksonville until 1965 when she then moved to Fernandina Beach at the request of local real estate developer Paul Burns. Pat worked as a Real Estate Loan Closer for Paul Burns Realty. She then continued to work as a loan closer for attorneys Granville Doc Burgess, Wesley Poole and Buddy Jacobs until retiring. She started the Fernandina Beach Chapter of ABWA in the late 1960s. She was also a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 54 and the American Legion Riders, Chapter 54 where she served many years as Treasurer for both organizations. She was also a Life Member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Byrd-Wallace Post 4351. For many years, she and her husband, Donald had been active with the Fernandina Beach Pirates Club. She is preceded in death by her son, Donald P. Curnutte Jr., who passed away in 2008; her sister, Ada Bright, who passed away in 2009; and her husband of 64 years, Donald P. Curnutte Sr., who passed away in 2010. Pat leaves behind, a son, William Bill D. Curnutte; a daughter, Sylvia Curnutte, both of Jacksonville, FL; a sister, Joyce Hicks, Grafton, VA; four grandchildren, Lori Kay Reneau, Christie Bradfield, Sean Curnutte, Christy Larsen; four great grandchildren and one niece and two nephews. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 26, 2013 from the Burgess Chapel of Oxley Heard with Reverend Melissa Pisco, of St. Paul United Methodist Church, officiating. Active pallbearers will be: Marty Martin, Bruce Malcolm, George Terwillinger, Tony Brewer, Chris Allen and Sam Hicks. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, American Legion Riders and Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars. The motorcycle units of the American Legion Riders, Chapters 54 and 283 will provide an escort to Bosque Bello Cemetery as Mrs. Curnutte is laid to rest beside her husband. A reception will follow at American Legion Post 54 in Fernandina Beach, FL. Her family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
