RAY BESSENT Obituary
BESSENT Ray O. Bessent, 86, passed away February 6, 2013. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida on April 16, 1926 to the late Charles and Sadie Altman Bessent. He retired in Interlachen, FL 29 years ago. Ray was a veteran of WWII and the recipient of various medals including the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Asbestos Workers Local 13 for 65 years and the VFW #10164 in Interlachen. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He was preceded in death by his son John Bessent. Survivors include his devoted wife of 64 years, Vonnie Bessent; his children , Richard Bessent (Susan), Charlene Asbell (Bob); his siblings, Gladys Miller, Katherine Henry, Erma Wimberly and Jimmie Sauls; 4 grandchildren, Townsend, Olivier, Michelle and Jennifer; and 2 great grandchildren, Noah and Adyn. Graveside service will be held Monday, February 11, 2013 at 11:00 AM in Riverside Memorial Park, Normandy Blvd. Jacksonville, FL with Chaplain David Tucker officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 to 6 PM at Hardage-Giddens Rivermead Funeral Home, 127 Blanding Blvd. Orange Park, FL 32073.
