FAMATING Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com Romeo N. Famating, 74, was called to rest by the Lord on June 21, 2014 following a brief battle with cancer. Mr. Famating was preceded in death by his mother, Encarnacion; father, Mauro; son, Raymund; as well as other siblings and cousins. Romeo is survived by his wife of almost 47 years, Herminia; son, Romeo, Jr.; daughter, Hope Thorwart (Barney); and grandchildren, Landon and Emily. Mr. Famating proudly served our country in the United States Navy for 23 years until he retired in 1987. Then Romeo furthered his dedication to our country by his civil service at the Defense Commissary Agency as a contracting officer for 14 years. Romeo had a continued passion to serve others as he was the hands of the Lord, and was a Master Mason in the Free and Accepted Masons. Mr. Famating also belonged to various Filipino organizations including Fil-Am and the Filipino Civic and Cultural Association. Above all Romeo prided himself as his family did as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose greatest joy was spending time with his family. Romeo lead a wonderful and prestigious life that will be furthermore carried out by the loved ones and legacy he has left behind to carry out his name Honorably. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and neighbors. For Floral Arrangements please call (904) 641-9705 There will be a visitation held Friday June 27, 2014 from 4:00pm 7:00pm at St. Johns the Baptist Catholic Church, 2400 Mayport Road, Atlantic Beach, FL 32233 (904) 246-6014. Services will be held Saturday June 28, 2014 at 10:00am, St. Pauls Catholic Church, 435 1st Avenue North, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250 (904) 249-2600. The internment will follow services at Beaches Memorial Park, 1500 Main Street, Atlantic Beach, FL 32233 (904) 249-1166.
