Obituary Condolences

Simon Grenade Wooten, Jr., fondly know as Grenade, age 91, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2013 surrounded by his adoring family. He was born August 6, 1921 in Leslie, Georgia and has lived in Jacksonville since 1924. He was proud to serve his country in the United States Navy during WWII and stationed at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville. He attended the University of Florida and attained a degree in art from the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, FL. He spent his entire career in advertising, serving as Advertising Manager of Furchgott s & Ivey s Department Stores and the Orlando Sentinel. He is survived by his loving wife Doris Darden Wooten, his daughters Pam Wooten and Connie Inman (Tommy) and a son Gary Parnaby (Janice), 4 Grandchildren, 6 Great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and countless numbers who called him Friend. Grenade was a long time member of Southside Baptist Church. His love for the Lord was witnessed by all he met, his eager smile and loving words will be long remembered. He was a Gentle Man in so very many ways. He lived his life to serve others. He was pre-deceased in death by his wife Margaret Clark Wooten, parents Mattie Howell Clark and Simon Grenade Wooten, Sr., and sister Mildred Harper. Those wishing may make a donation in Grenade s memory to: the NE Florida Multiple Sclerosis Society at 4237 Salisbury Road #406, Jacksonville, Florida 32216. The family will receive friends at 2:30pm followed by the Funeral Service to be held at 3:30 pm on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32207.
