SUELLYN HERRING Obituary
HERRING Suellyn Petri Herring of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on April 23, 2013 after a courageous four year battle with leukemia. The daughter of Jessie and Carl Petri, Suellyn was born in Pekin, Illinois and attended the University of Illinois. She was a successful executive in the fashion and sports industry for over 30 years. For ten years she was Director of Licensing for the PGA Tour. As an entrepreneur, she co-started LPI which was later bought by IMG. She was currently acting Vice President for Mercury Luggage/Seward Trunk. Known as Cappy by her closest family and grandchildren, she was an equestrian and loved Springer Spaniels. As a member of the Florida Yacht Club, she was an avid tennis player and was named Comeback Player of the Year in 2010 during her initial leukemia diagnosis. She was a 20 year member of the Sunnyland Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society and was the recipient of the President s Award in 2008. Beside her parents, Suellyn is survived by her husband Bernard Herring III of Jacksonville, Florida; children Josh Porter of Tallahassee, Florida and Kim Cook of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren Kendall Porter and Alex Porter of Tallahassee, Florida, Herrin Cook and Benjamin Cook, III of Atlanta, Georgia, and Aunt Ella Heintz of Leesburg, Florida. A service to celebrate Suellyn's life will be held at the Florida Yacht Club on May 30, 2013 at 5:00. Friends and family are invited to attend.
