BUTRIMAS Sylvan Butrimas, known to his friends as Burt, 85, husband for 64 years, father of 2, grandfather of 6 and great grandfather of 4, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2013, born in Chicago, Illinois. Burt was a veteran of the US Army Air Corps; he was a Professional Engineer; he retired from Army Corps of Engineers after 36 years of service. He could always be found sitting in his garage with his hat on, puffing on a cigar while sipping a beer and watching TV. His passion was golfing and he loved to read. Burt was a jack-of-all-trades and had many interest. Everyone who met Burt found him very interesting to talk too. He loved to make people laugh and had many stories to tell of his experiences. He enjoyed taking care of his home and cooking. Burt was a man of integrity who was well respected. Burt was a one of kind guy who lived life his way; his family and friends will miss him. A Memorial service for Sylvan Butrimas will be held 11AM Wednesday, March 6, 2013 in the chapel at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 111 Blanding Blvd. Orange Park, FL. Inurnment will follow in Jacksonville Memory Gardens Cemetery with military honors.
