Obituary Condolences

RIVERS Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com Thurman Rivers, Jr. 76, passed away February 7, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Bennettsville, SC, son of the late Thurman and Ruth (Modlin) Rivers. Thurman was a Methodist Minister, graduated from the University of Florida and received his Masters of Divinity at Emory University. He was a loving family man who enjoyed grilling for the whole family. Thurman was an avid Gator fan. Surviving are his dear wife of 57 years, Virginia, three children, Robert (Julie) Rivers, Julie (Robert) Hoffman, Jeffery (Vickie) Rivers, six grandchildren, Amanda Chapman, Christopher Rivers, Mitch Rivers, Rebecca Rivers, Bryce Hoffman and Kaylee Hoffman, two great grandchildren, Aubrey Morris and Noah Chapman and numerous friends and his dear four legged friend Max with whom he shared a banana every day. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32207.
