WM. RICHARD BARKER Obituary
BARKER WM. RICHARD BARKER, 95, died January 12, 2014. A lifelong resident of Jacksonville, he was the son of Bruce L. and Stella F. Barker. After high school, Mr. Barker enlisted in the Navy in WWII and served as a gunner's mate on ships in the Atlantic and Pacific. His duties included service on the hazardous North Atlantic convoys. He worked for The Florida Times-Union for 50 years as a machinist and after official retirement as a security guard. He enjoyed bowling and playing golf with the Times-Union Golf Association. He and his wife of 60 years, Kathleen Hogan, who predeceased him in 2007, loved traveling and visiting friends. They had no children. He was a member of Morocco Temple Shrine Association. His brothers, Bruce, Slade and George predeceased him. He is survived by his nieces, Catherine B. Aleksandravicius and Carol B. Clarke and nephew F.
