Alfred Bester "Alfreto with the little O," was born on January 9, 1932, in Toledo, OH to the union of the late Henry and Flossie Bester. He retired from Columbia Gas after 25 years of service. He was an honorable U.S. veteran and served in the Army during the Korean War.

Surviving is his wife, Betty; children, Darlene (Melvin) Gaines, Jeanette (Dale) Galloway, Aaron (Kathy) Bester, Shelia Bester Braswell, Theresa (Wendell) Donaldson, Daron (Lisa) Bester; the mother of his children, Jannie Bester; stepchildren, Sylvester Jr., Sylvia, and William Rivers (Mikke); sister, Margaret (Carl) Booker; 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Bessie, Claudia Bester, Hazel Bester, and his bed partner, Princess (dog).

Al was a member of First Antioch Baptist Church of Christ. Funeral Thursday, July 17, 2014, at 11 a.m. preceded by wake at 10 a.m. at House of Day Chapel.
