Andrew W. III "AJ"

Andrew William Mayberry III, 30, of Holland, Ohio passed away on April 4, 2014, in Sherman Oaks, CA. AJ was a 2002 graduate of St. John's Jesuit High School. In 2006, AJ enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he was the Honor Graduate of Platoon 2034 in Parris Island, SC. He was meritoriously promoted to Sergeant within two years of service. AJ was stationed in Hawaii with the 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines. He served his country with three decorated combat tours: two in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. AJ was awarded two Navy and

Marine Corps Achievement Medals and a Purple Heart. He left the Marine Corps in 2012, with hopes of obtaining a college degree. AJ maintained a 4.0 GPA, before his untimely passing.

Family, the Marines and Ohio State football, meant the world to AJ. His favorite times were spent at sunny beach houses, snowy mountain resorts or just relaxing with loved ones around the holidays. When he was home, there was regularly a trip to the family's favorite hangout, Loma Linda's, where Jeannie and Mike always made us welcome. Many of these gatherings included his

newfound brothers in arms. Seldom would you see AJ representing anything but OSU football.

AJ is preceded in death

by grandparents, Robert Mayberry and Everett and Diane Riley. He is survived by parents, Andrew II and Linda; brother, Austin

(fiancée, Whitney Wheeler); grandmother, Violet Irene; uncles, Jeffrey Riley, John and Roland (Sue) Carter; aunt, Deb (Ken) Myrice; cousins, Melissa (Scott), Rachel (Anthony), Brian, Christy, Stephanie, Paige, Piper, Krystal, Emani, Kalina and Skye and girlfriend, Joy Voltaire.
