BROWN

Charles W. Jr.

Charles "Chuck" Brown Jr., 93, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2014, at Otterbein Portage Valley in Pemberville, OH, where he had resided for the past two years.

Chuck was born on January 28, 1921, in Rossford, OH, to Charles W. and Pauline (Fildes) Brown Sr. He was a lifelong resident of Rossford, graduating from Rossford High School in 1939. Chuck excelled in many areas, including basketball, where he was the team captain.

Chuck served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific as a medic/surgeon for the 71st Evac. Hospital Unit. He was very proud to serve his country and made many lifelong friendships with others across the country.

On November 16, 1943, he married his high school sweetheart, Stelle M. (Olszanski) in Rossford, and they were married for 63 years.

Chuck worked as a Foreman at Libbey Owens Ford Glass Company (Pilkington) in Rossford, OH, and then became a Safety Director at the East Side Plant in Toledo, OH, until his retirement in 1980.

Chuck was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a positive role model whose favorite saying was, "If you are going to do something, do it right or don't do it at all." He was always there for his family and friends in need and he will be greatly missed.

Chuck was preceded in death by his loving wife, Stelle; parents, and brothers, Robert and Gordon.

He is survived by his sons, Greg (Kathy) Brown of Rossford, OH, Chuck (Linda) Brown of Temperance, MI, and daughter Debi (Howard) Campbell of Findlay, OH; grandchildren, Casey (Cindy) Shultz, Chad (Sammi) Shultz, Carrie (Brian) Kingery, Jonathan Brown and Charley Brown; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Betty Brown, and other special cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

In keeping with Chuck's wishes, private services and burial will be held at Ft. Meigs Cemetery in Perrysburg, OH.

Special thanks to all of the doctors, nurses and aides from Otterbein Portage-Valley and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for all of their kindness and wonderful care of Chuck. The family requests that you remember Chuck in your heart. God Bless everyone who was a part of his life.

Arrangements will be held by Sujkowski Funeral Home in Rossford, OH. Memorials may be made to All Saints Catholic Church in Rossford or to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
