David G.



David G. Gable, age 75, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013, at The Toledo Hospital. The son of Frank and Kathryn (Stoddard), he was born November 28, 1937, in Toledo. He attended Libbey High School and later joined the U.S. Marine Corp. and was honorably discharged in 1958. David enjoyed a long career with The Toledo Fire Department starting in 1962 and retiring in 1988. He worked for the Toledo Firefighters Federal Credit Union from the early 70's until his retirement in 2005 as manager. During his career with the TFFFCU he was instrumental in the construction of the current credit union on Laskey Rd. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed his yearly hunting trips to Northern Michigan. Nothing brought David more joy than spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events.

He is survived by his loving wife, Judith; stepsons, Tommy (Rita) Bridges, David Bridges; grandchildren, Stephanie Turner, TJ, Tyler, Michael, Alex, Joshua, Brandon and Baily Bridges, Joseph and Jeanne Farrow; great-grandchild, Devin Billy; sister, Kathy (Carl) Fritts; sisters-in-law, Josephine DeShetler, Genevieve (James) Jordon, Cathe Fadell; brothers-in-law, Robert (Vickie) Calkins, David (Sharon) Baz, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father at the age of 12; his mother; brother, James, and stepson, Kenn Bridges.

Friends may visit the family on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd) with a Last Alarm Service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
