Douglas Raymond

Douglas Raymond Shanteau, age 52, of Perrysburg, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014, in Hospice of Perrysburg after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born September 10, 1961, in Toledo to Donald R. and Dorothy J. Shanteau. He attended Little Flower Parish grade school, St. John's Jesuit and graduated from Central Catholic High School. Doug then graduated from Owens Community College with an Associate's Degree in Computer Science. After graduation, Doug worked as a computer programmer for the Answer Factory. He left in 1994 to open his own business, Direct Computer which he operated until October of 2013, closing because of his ill health. He was an active member of the Maumee Bay Chapter of BNI and he enjoyed camping, traveling, sports and gardening. Doug had an eclectic taste in music and was a lifelong fan of The Ohio State University and the Miami Dolphins.

Doug was preceded in death by grandparents, Anna Mae Feyes Keaton Fair, Elmer Keaton, Raymond and Lexie Shanteau, and father, Donald Raymond Shanteau. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Lyn Shanteau; son, Douglas William Shanteau; daughter, Anna Jane Shanteau; step-son, Jason Thomas (Maria) Henneman; mother, Dorothy Joyce (Keaton) Shanteau; sisters, Michelle (Terrence Lehaney) Shanteau, Julie Krieg, Jennifer (Kevin) Bucher and brother, Donn Shanteau; 12 nephews and a niece.

Friends will be received at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey) on Saturday, March 29, after 1 p.m. where memorial services will follow at 4 p.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Douglas Shanteau Memorial Fund at any PNC bank. Condolences may be sent to the family at
