Everett "Easy Ed" L.

Everett "Easy Ed" L. Hargrove, of Toledo, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2014, in Vibrant Life Senior Living at the age of 85. Ed was a proud U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. He was a member of Conn-Weissenberger American Legion Post #587, Am Vets, a 36 year member of U.A.W. Local 14 where he was the Educational Director and contributor with his column, "Chevy Chat" in the Union Progress Paper. Ed played his harmonica for over 70 years. He was very proud that he played that harmonica in 13 countries; he went to various senior centers to entertain with his music which was all self taught. He would say with a grin, "I'm just starting to get the hang of this." Ed always had his harmonica with him ready to entertain. He also collected coins, lapel pins and match books and enjoyed playing euchre. Ed loved to hear and tell a good joke. His greatest joy however was spending time with his family.

Ed was preceded in death by parents, Thomas and Effie (Ward) Hargrove; wife of 51 years, Alice; sons, Charles and Robert; grandson, Glenn and several brothers and sisters. Left to cherish his memory are loving children, Mary Lou Jones, Sandra Perfinger, James, Eugene, Ronald and Michael (Carrie) Hargrove; 8 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry (Joyce) Walker.

Visitation for Ed will begin on Thursday, August 7, 2014, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. in the David R. Jasin-Hoening Funeral Home, 5300 N. Summit Street, Toledo, OH 43611 (419-726-1583). Funeral Services will be held in the Funeral Home on Friday, August 8, 2014, at 11 a.m. with Fr. Jeff Walker officiating. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Ed's name are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Hospice of Northwest Ohio and the whole staff of Vibrant Life Senior Center for their love and kindness during Ed's stay.
