Frances Choice Quinnell, age 86, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2014, at The Magnum Care Center in Adrian. Frances was born on January 18, 1928, in Toledo, Ohio to Cornelus and Olive Drouillard. One of five children, she spent her early years in Samaria, Michigan and later graduated from the Central Catholic High School. She was a graduate of Mary Manse College in Toledo and taught third grade at Toledo Rosary Cathedral for eight years.
On May 20, 1949, she married Robert N. Quinnell, who preceded her in death in 2002. In 1971, the Quinnell family moved to Springfield, Illinois where Frances earned a master's degree in education from the University of Illinois, Springfield. She worked for the State of Illinois Department of Human Services and later owned and operated Q.E.D., an educational tutoring and testing center in Springfield. Frances finished her career teaching at the Springfield Little Flower Elementary School, retiring in 1998. Robert and Frances spent their retirement years near family in Dunedin, Florida and Toledo, Ohio.
Frances is survived by her children, Robert C. (Jody) Quinnell of Mazatlan, Mexico, Susan L. Quinnell, and Eric Quinnell both of Bismarck, North Dakota. She is also survived by grandchildren Mark Zietkiewicz of Estes Park, Colorado, Katherine (Jon) Demorest of Battle Creek, Michigan and Emily (David Goble) of Blissfield, Michigan and great-granddaughters, Marissa Demorest and Reagan Goble. Frances is survived by her brothers, Robert (Rachel) Drouillard of Tiffin, Ohio and Joseph (Gloria) Drouillard of Toledo, OH and numerous nieces, nephews and scores of great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Frances was preceded in death by her sisters, Jeanne Conley and Marilyn Porthouse.
Friends may call at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main Street, Sylvania, on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, from 4-9 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be conducted at Rosary Cathedral 2535 Collingwood Blvd., Toledo, Ohio Thursday, July 17, 2014, at 11 a.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to "Tenderhearts" at the Magnum Care Activity Department.
