Frank Blaszczyk, age 88, of Toledo, passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, March 17, 2014.

He was born April 10, 1925, to Marcin and Antonina (Czeszlak) Blaszczyk in Toledo. Frank attended Parkland Grade School and was a graduate of Woodward High School. A World War II Navy veteran, he was a life member of VFW Buddy Frankowski Post 5530 and CWV Jude Thaddeus Post 1675. Frank worked on the assembly line and on the docks for Jeep for 42 years, where he served as a union steward for UAW Local 12. Frank enjoyed bowling with the Mercury Bowling League and pitching horse shoes at Collin Park. He was one of the best single shooters in the 4th Ward Old Timers dart ball league. Frank was known for his abilities to repair anything, for anybody and for his green thumb, when it came to tending his garden. He loved watching and attending Bowling Green women's basketball games with his son. Also, Frank volunteered at the Lagrange Street Polish Festival for 30 years. He was a parishioner of Regina Coeli Catholic Church.

Frank is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mercedes "Babe" (Rawski) Blaszczyk, and daughter, Janice Blaszczyk. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Martin; siblings, Mary Mikulak, Frances Moll, Sophie Zoldowski, Rose Luttrel, Edward Blaszczyk, Stella Green, Ted Blaszczyk and John Blaszczyk.

Family and friends may visit Wednesday, from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. where a scripture service will be held at 6:00 p.m. and members of VFW Post 5535 will lead a service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin Thursday, at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in Regina Coeli Church at 10:00 a.m. Services will conclude with Military Honors by the Lucas County Burial Corp in Resurrection Cemetery.
