George "Bob" Meyer, age 85, beloved sweetheart and husband of Suzanne (Alberti), passed away peacefully after a tenacious struggle to overcome the effects of a stroke.
Bob leaves behind the wife he adored for 62 years,
Suzanne; daughter, Judy (Terry) Kotalik, and son, Todd (Joan) Meyer. He also leaves behind granddaughters, Allyson (Michelle), Jillian (Ales) Kotalik, and brother, Earl William
(Barbara) Meyer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Gertrude Meyer, and his sister, Patricia Wheeler (Edwin). Bob's wonderful family also includes brothers-in-law, Karl (Raymonde) Alberti and John Robert (Jane) Alberti, and many nieces and nephews.
While pursuing engineering at the University of Toledo, Bob began working as a laboratory analyst for Libbey Owens Ford Glass Company. After receiving his degree in ceramic engineering, Bob married Suzanne, the girl of his dreams, and continued to work for Libbey Owens Ford. He worked for the company for 38 years, as a process improvement engineer, process supervisor, administrator, and plant manager. During the last six years of his career, he became very interested in the possibilities offered by the application of computer software for system and warehouse control. He thoroughly enjoyed his work and was proud of making glass for General Motors and also architectural glass.
Bob also thoroughly enjoyed his retirement. He was a
voracious reader, a fabulous grandpa, a stalwart member of his church and adored by all the family dogs. He served for many years on the Libbey High School reunion committee. He was "one of the good guys" and his family was grateful to have been blessed with his presence for 85 wonderful years.
