Harry L. M.D.
Harry L. Snyder M.D., 86, of Sylvania, OH, passed away at his home on Sunday, May 19, 2013, surrounded by members of his loving family.
He was born May 17, 1927, in Chicago, IL, to Harry L. Snyder Sr. and Mabel L. (Johnson) Snyder.
Harry served his country during WWII in the US Navy as a pharmacist's mate and received a Purple Heart during his tour of duty. He graduated from the University of Michigan with both his bachelors and medical degree. Harry always referred to himself as a "Small Country Doctor from Sylvania", where he practiced for 50 years. He was a former member of the Academy of Medicine, Sylvania Country Club, Trilby Exchange Club, and the Montréal River Hunt Club in Canada. Harry was an avid golfer playing at least once a week if not more and in his younger years enjoyed bowling on the Academy of Medicine Bowling League. He also had a love for automobiles of all kinds and enjoyed watching Auto Racing. Harry truly appreciated vintage cars owning at one time a 1937 Packard, 1969 Mark III Lincoln, and a 1979 Rolls Royce Silver Wraith.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 52 years, Caroline M. (Myers) Snyder; daughters, Kim Snyder-Vine and Sharon Sabath; sons, Joe (Tammy), Mark (Amy) and Scott (Connie) Snyder; 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; three daughters from a previous marriage, Lauri Kalb, Sandra Snyder and Debra Sparks; brothers, Robert (Phyllis) and Donald (Serena) Snyder.
The family would like to thank Leann and her team from Northwest Ohio Hospice, Dr. Chris Bates and Rose Stevens for all there comforting care of Harry.
Friends may call at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St., Sylvania, OH, Friday, May 24th for a gathering from 4 to 8 p.m., where a Memorial Service will be conducted Saturday, May 25th at 11 a.m. Those wishing to give memorials in lieu of flowers, are asked to consider the Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
