On August 3, 2014, Helen took her final breath when she was called by God to take her seat in His eternal resting place.
Following a long illness, Helen died a peaceful death at her home surrounded by her entire family. She was very much a caring and giving mother to her 6 children and was especially grateful to her care-givers, Gayle and Terri, and often referred to them as her special "angels" from God. She will be dearly missed by her friends and family.
Helen was born on April 21, 1927, in Toledo to Anthony and Clelia (Prephan) Saba. She was one of 13 children. She worked at General Motors for nearly 20 years in their Production Department. After retiring, she became very fond of cooking for her family and having them over nearly every Sunday and on holidays for her special meals which she prepared herself. She also loved to play bingo and frequently went to different bingo games with her sister and favorite bingo partner, Linda.
Helen is survived by her three sons and their spouses, Mark (Cheryl), Jim (Vicki) and Ray (Nancy); her three daughters and their spouses, Gayle (Jack) Sparagowski, Terri (George) Amos and Karen (Todd) Huff; sister, Linda Zagara; brothers, Philip and Bill Saba, and a Sitto to 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and her dog, Lilly. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, William; her grandson, Christopher Fisher and her granddaughter, Madison Amos; as well as 9 siblings.
The family members wish to acknowledge and thank the wonderful nurses from Senior Independence Hospice, especially Jennifer, for the tender care given to our mother during her final weeks.
Family and friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on August 11, 2014, at Reeb Funeral Home in Sylvania, where the Service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Planned Pethood, Inc. or Senior Independence Home Health and Hospice in Toledo.
