J. Timothy "Tim"

J. Timothy Hyma "Tim," 80, of Sylvania, OH, passed away unexpectedly at The Toledo Hospital early Sunday, July 20, 2014, with his wife and children by his side. He was born September 30, 1933, in Findlay, OH to Walter and Della (Trapp) Hyma. Tim was a 1955 graduate of Ohio Northern University, earned a Physical Therapist Degree at University of Michigan in 1956, and a MBA from The University of Toledo in 1975. He started the Physical Therapy Department at St Vincent's Medical Center in 1958 and served in hospital administration for various departments there and also at Fostoria and Flower Hospitals. Tim was a 30 year member of Alcoholics Anonymous, involved in Photos Arts Club, Downtown Exchange Club, and volunteered for the Toledo Zoo as well as the Toledo Metro parks. He had a passion for the outdoors and was an avid golfer (shooting an 83 for 18 holes the day before his passing). He was known for his exuberant storytelling, wry sense of humor, and compassion and caring for others.

Left to cherish his memory is loving wife, Yvonne "Eve" (Schmidthuber) Hyma; daughters, Melissa (Bill) Blanc and Kimberly (Brett) Cashman; sons, Jeffery and Matthew (Stacy) Hyma; grandchildren, Brisa, Hayden, Madison, Grant, Avery, Chase, and Saige; older brother, Walter (Marie) Hyma. Preceding him in death were Tim's parents and sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Riess.

Friends may call at the Sylvania United Church of Christ, 7240 Erie Street, Sylvania, OH 43560 on Saturday, July 26. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. with memorial service at 4 p.m. and light supper to follow. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to give a memorial are asked to consider the Toledo Zoo, the Toledo Metro parks or the Compass Corporation for Recovery Service (CCRS) or .
