James Duane Lenardson, 88, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Parkcliffe Community. He was born June 8, 1924, to James W. and Viola Lenardson in Riga, MI. James was a graduate of McKenzie High School in Dearborn, MI, the University of Illinois and attended the University of Michigan post graduation, where he studied nuclear power reactor engineering. He honorably served his country in the Navy during World War II and served in the reserves, before retiring as Commander. After retiring from Toledo Edison after many years of service, James became an independent consultant providing his expertise auditing and consulting nuclear power plants around the world. He attended Monclova Baptist Church and his hobbies included snow skiing, gardening, bird watching and participating in his grandchildren's many activities.
James is survived by his children, Linda (Calvin) Wieringa, Cyndy (Bill) Green, Jim (Penny) Lenardson, Rick (Becky) Lenardson; grandchildren, Rob Shaw, Jennifer (Matthew) O'Connor, Park James Shaw, James Robert (Kelly) Lenardson, Christopher Lenardson, Rachel Lenardson, Hannah Lenardson, and great-grandchildren, Ali, McKenzie, Garrett, Savanna, Carson James, Sloan and Lila. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Raye.
