Joe Boose Obituary


Joe Boose 90, went home to be with the Lord May 19, 2013, at St. Charles Hospital surrounded by his family. Joe was born February 23, 1923, to Willie and Mandy (Payne) Boose in Chunky, MS. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elsenior Boose; daughter, Carrie Mae Boose; four sisters, and four brothers.

He confessed his life to Christ at an early age. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. After his discharge, he was joined in marriage to the late Elsenior Boose. They raised twelve children in their East Toledo home. Joe was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who worked hard to support his family, retiring after many years with Textile Leather. In his leisure, Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a great craftsman and a wild game cook. He enjoyed cooking for his family and friends.

Joe is survived by 11 children, Patricia (William) McCorvey, Helen (Selby) Thames, Ellis (Robert) Wilson, Joe Boose Jr., Thomas Boose, Robin Boose, Calder (Terry) Boose, Mandy A (Randy) Forbes, Jacqueline (Robert) Forbes, Jay Boose Sr. and Bradley Boose; 43 grandchildren; 115 great-grandchildren; 45 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Jessie Barksdale, who he adored; brother, Rodger Boose; two sisters-in-law, Mae Katherine Gamby of Chicago, Gertrude Sloan of Toledo, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be Thursday 3 - 7 p.m. Dale-Riggs Funeral Home Chapel, family hour Friday 10:00 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Zion Hill Baptist Church, Pastor Jarius Everett officiant, interment Restlawn Cemetery.
