Joseph B. Crippen, age 89,
of Toledo passed away
Thursday, December 12, 2013. He was born September 29, 1924, to Basil and Josephine Crippen in Toledo Ohio.
Joe served in the United States Army during WWII. He worked as a truck driver for over 30 years and was a member of the Teamsters Union, which he was very proud of.
Joe loved boating, camping, fishing, NASCAR, and the Detroit Tigers. He was a life member of the Eagles,
Disabled Veterans, and the American Legion Post #642 where he formerly was a trustee. Joe was also a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church, where he served as an usher.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; son, Joseph Crippen; daughter, Mary Jo Wilson; brothers, Basil, Thomas, and James Crippen. He is
survived by his son, John Crippen; brothers, Jerry (Catherine), Phillip (Mary Ann) Crippen; sister, Mary Myers; daughter-in-law, Debbie, and grandchildren, Tim, Mike, Lonnie Wilson and Emma Crippen.
Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd. on Sunday, December 15 from 2:00-8:00 p.m., where the American Legion Service will begin at 6:45 p.m. and a Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin in the mortuary on Monday, December 16 starting at 9:30 a.m., followed by the funeral Mass at St Charles Borromeo Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
