Joseph Frank Hojnacki, age 91, of Temperance, MI
formerly of North Toledo, passed away Monday, May 12, 2014, in Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. He was born July 20, 1922, to Joseph and Katherine (Karaszewska) Hojnacki in Toledo. Joe worked for 30 years at the former Page Dairy and eight years at the former Babcock Dairy. A decorated World War II U.S. Army Infantry veteran, he served in the southwest Pacific and also in the occupation of Japan. He was a Past Commander of the V.F.W. Post 5530, a member of the American Legion Post 587, Catholic War Vets and Polish War Vets Post 74. Joe was involved with the V.F.W. 5530 Burial Corp and also the Lucas County Veteran Burial Corps, where he was involved with many military funerals.
Joseph was preceded in death by his son, James Hojnacki; grandson, Stephen Zylka, III, and loving wife of 55 years, Julia Hojnacki. He is survived by his three loving daughters, Shirley (Stephen) Zylka, Patricia Dunn, and Mary Ann Hojnacki; son, Joseph (Leslie) Hojnacki Jr., and daughter-in-law, Stephanie Hojnacki. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Amy (Steve) Niemiec, Kevin (Laura) Szelagowski, Julia Kimble, Katie Hojnacki and Joseph Hojnacki III; six great-grandchildren, Paula, Samantha, Ava, Aidan, Jon and Addison (with one more on the way).

Funeral Home, 5055 Secor Road (north of Laskey), (419)475-5055. V.F.W. services will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday followed by a Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Closing prayers will begin in the
funeral home at 9:15 a.m.
Saturday, May 17, 2014, with the Funeral Mass beginning at 10:00 a.m. in Regina Coeli Catholic Church. Interment will occur at a later date in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Online condolences may be offered at
