Larry C.

Larry C. Stalter, 76, formerly of Woodmont Rd. in Toledo, OH, now of Powell, OH, entered into God's kingdom Friday, July 19, 2013. Born in Cincinnati, OH to the late Chet and Alverta Stalter, Larry was a graduate of Dayton Fairview H.S. He served in the U.S. Army and was then employed as a technician by the National Cash Register Co. in Dayton and Los Angeles. He received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toledo and studied post graduate at the University of Michigan. He was a registered Professional Engineer of the State of Ohio. He was employed for 27 years with the Toledo Edison Co. mainly at Davis Besse Nuclear Power Station. Larry was responsible for instrument and controls during the initial startup of the plant. After early retirement, he began working as a forensic fire investigator, including testifying as an expert witness, eventually forming his own Engineering Services Co. He was an avid fisherman on his boat, "Reel Fun". For over 25 years, his joy was organizing annual salmon fishing trips to Ludington, MI while being a licensed Captain of the Great Lakes. A lifetime member of the University of Toledo Alumni Assoc., he was also a season ticket holder for over 50 years for Ohio State University athletics including being an original seat license holder for OSU basketball. A member of the National Fire Protectors Association, Moose Lodge #1610, The Instrument Society of America, and the Liberty Barn Presbyterian Church where he served to assist Habitat of Delaware County.

Larry will be missed by his loving wife of over 50 years, Donna; son, Matthew (Lori) Stalter, Wexford, PA; daughter, Stacy (Scott) Hathaway, Powell, OH; grandchildren, Matthew Slade and Kathryn Ann Stalter, Maxwell Scott, Megan Joy, and Mia Ann FuNila Hathaway; brothers, Dr. William (Bonnie) Stalter, Centerville, OH and Richard Stalter, Gaylordville, CT. Carleton of the Stephen Ministry, ALS Assoc. of Central OH, and the staff and hospice at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2013, at Liberty Presbyterian Church, 7080 Olentangy River Rd., Delaware, OH 43015, Rev. Don Coleman, officiating. Larry lived his life by a simple phrase, "Do not criticize, condemn, or complain." He faced his ALS health challenges with bravery and dignity- a hero to his family and many friends.
