Louise Emmitt Baumgartner, fortified with the sacraments of Holy Mother Church, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, March 23, 2014. She was born October 23, 1933, to George and Eloise (Dann) Dougherty. She was a Mayflower passenger
descendant. Raised in the Old Orchard neighborhood of Toledo, OH, she attended Scott High School (Class of 1950), The University of Toledo, and The Ohio State University. She was a member of Tri Delta sorority. She married Frank Baumgartner, her spouse of 57 years in 1957. An excellent swimmer, she caught Frank's eye when he first saw her diving off "Suicide Cliff" at Centennial Quarry. In addition to her husband, Frank, she is survived by children, Dutch (Kim), Fritz (Mary Ann), Max (Michelle), Kurt (Karen), Amy, Trudi, and Hans; 32 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Frank.
Louise was an active member of St. Joseph Church in Sylvania. A convert to the faith, she volunteered as a Eucharistic minister, choir member and secretary, Regnum Christi member, and served on several parish committees. She volunteered for Mobile Meals for many years. After her last child entered school, she assisted her husband as a secretary, office manager, and bookkeeper in his private physical therapy practice until it's sale in 1989. She loved their "Waldhaus" home in Presque Isle, MI as both a summer and winter retreat. Louise was very dedicated to her family and enjoyed cooking, sewing, and all household chores. She was a nurturing mother, counselor, faithful homemaker and loving wife.

Main Street, Sylvania, Friday, March 28, 2014, 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with Prayer Services conducted at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church, Sylvania, OH Saturday, March 29, at 10:00 a.m. Interment Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
