Maliaka Michele (Stewart)

Maliaka Michele Goings (Stewart) passed away March 7, 2014, the daughter of Roosevelt Stewart Sr. and Rev. Paula W. Stewart. Maliaka was born on November 6, 1976, in St. Louis, MO. She moved to Toledo with her family when she was in fourth grade and attended Holland Elementary and was a member of Springfield High School class of 1995. Maliaka worked as a teller for Key Bank in Bowling Green and at the Alexis/Lewis branch before she took disability leave. She obtained her Associate's Degree from Davis College and pursued her undergraduate degree at Lourdes College before her condition worsened. Those who remember her will recall her quick wit, her knowledge of all things pop culture, her love of romance novels, Harry Potter and the University of Michigan.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her parents; three children, Nathan Stewart, Daisha Dixon, and Victoria Goings; her sister, April (Kalvin) White; brothers, Roosevelt Jr. (Ciara) and Matthew Stewart of St. Louis. She is survived by her ex-husband, Vashon Goings Sr. and her stepson, Vashon Goings Jr. Her passing will be missed by her grandmother, Vivian Ward and aunts, Theodora (Rev. Daryl) Jones and Althea Sleet as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins that she deeply loved.

A memorial service to commemorate her life will be held on March 23, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Collingwood UMC, 701 Phillips Avenue, Rev. Mary Sullivan will officiate. Condolences may be sent to the family at 2835 Claredale Rd, Toledo, Ohio 43613. Memorial contributions made in her honor may be sent to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, or Collingwood United Methodist Church.
