Mary Jane Orban, age 87, of Toledo, passed away peacefully at home April 1, 2014. Mary was born in Toledo, March 11, 1927, to Howard and Myrtle (Hubert) Grodi. A 1944 Whitmer High School graduate, she married her high school sweetheart, Norman Orban May 17, 1947. They were married for nearly 59 years until Norman passed in 2006. During WWII Mary was a clerical worker for The Toledo Scale Company. After raising her 5 children, she worked as a receptionist many years for Dr. Rolland Scherbarth M.D., until she retired in 1989. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Collingwood Chapter and the Ladies Oriental Shrine Dendarah Court. Mary enjoyed the years she spent singing with The Sweet Adelines and she was an avid fan of NASCAR's Jeff Gordon and the University of Michigan. "Go Blue!"

Surviving are her loving children, Patricia (James) Brzuchalski, Pamela (Michael) Avery, Janice (Stephen) Kasprzak, Norman (Karen) Orban and Howard (Kari Smith) Orban; grandchildren, Maribeth (Bradley) Wielfaert, Andrew (Amy) Brzuchalski, Michael (Brandy) Avery, Danielle Kasprzak, Stephen Kasprzak II, Bradley Brzuchalski, Timothy Brzuchalski, Norman Orban III, Emily (William) Myles, Nicole Orban and Lauren Orban; great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Kelsey Wielfaert, Angelica, Audrina and Alayna Avery, Blaise, Ava, Oliver and Sylas Brzuchalski; great-great-granddaughter, Layla Weaver; brother-in-law, Ronald Orban. Also surviving are special canine children Daisy Jane and Rocky Fritz. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Norman and her sister, Doris Rasik.

Visitation will be held Thursday April 3, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with Eastern Star services at 6:30 p.m. in the Urbanski Funeral Home 5055 Secor Rd., Toledo (419) 475-5055. Friends may also visit Friday, April 4, 2014, from 10 a.m. until Funeral Services begin at 11 a.m. in Mayfair Plymouth Congregational Christian Church 5253 Bennett Road, Toledo, Ohio. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to the Lucas County Canine Care and Control, Cutie's Fund or the Toledo Zoo. Online condolences may be shared at
