Mary L. Knotts, age 90, died February 23, 2014, in Pembroke Pines, FL, of natural causes. She was born March 17, 1923, in Ohio City, OH, the daughter of Harry and Josephine (Montgomery) Blossom, who preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard M. Knotts in 1976, and her brother, Kent Blossom, and two sisters, Olive Bandeen and Margaret Donnell.
She is survived by her son, Richard A. Knotts, Pembroke Pines, FL, and a daughter, Yolanda S. (Rick) Jones of Perrysburg, OH. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Erica (Jake) Jackola, and Aaron Knotts, Pembroke FL, Brandon R. Jones, Perrysburg, and Britney Jones, Toledo. In addition, she has three great-grandchildren, Emma, Sam, and Ariel; three nieces; five nephews, and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mary was reared in Ohio City, OH, and graduated with honors from The Ohio State University. She graduated with a major in music, and later switched to elementary education. She married Richard M. Knotts in 1948 and they eventually moved to Monroe, MI, where she taught at Manor Elementary School for 30 years. She then moved to Pembroke Pines, FL. Mary enjoyed traveling all over the United States and also included Hawaii, Japan, Nassau and the Bahamas in her travels.
Mary was an endearing mother and grandmother whose elegance and grace was bestowed on everyone she knew. She will be deeply missed.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday March 6, 2014, at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, 1102 Lincoln Ave., Wapakoneta, OH. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m., until time of the service, Thursday at the funeral home. Burial is to follow in the Walnut Hill Cemetery, near New Hampshire, OH.
