Michael J. "Mike"



Mike Lane, of Toledo, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, October 12, 2013. He was born November 15, 1951 to Ethel (Navarre) and William Lane. He attended St. Agnes Grade School and Woodward High School, Class of 1969. Mike was a Toledo Firefighter for 17 years and most recently was employed at Perrysburg Commons, where he was named Employee of the Year in 2010. He looked forward to work each day and considered the residents and co-workers family, especially Steve and Robin. He loved to fish in Lake Erie aboard the Polish Princess with his friend, Janice Konoff. Other interests

included bowling, cards, trips to the casino, the Dallas Cowboys, UT Men's Basketball and NCIS. The single thing he enjoyed the most was spending time with his children and grandchildren. Nothing made him happier than sharing a smile with them. Special days included trips to Cedar Point, where he rode every roller coaster with a grandchild at his side. He was a member of St.

Catherine of Siena Parish for many years.

Mike is survived by his

children, Rita (David) Ostrum of Ft. Drum, NY, and Gene (Sarah) Lane of Syracuse, NY; grandchildren include, Derek of Phoenix, AZ, Ashley, Maranda, Topanga, and Aden of Ft. Drum, NY, and Penelope and Felicity of Syracuse, NY. Also surviving, Barb Lane; siblings, Jane Gralak, Patty (David) Denner, Sara (Lee) Edwards, and Bill Lane. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Barb Huth and Kitty Kaminski; brothers, Robert and Richard Lane.

The family will receive guests on Tuesday, October 15, 2013, from 3-8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). A Rosary will be recited in the funeral home at 5 p.m. on Tuesday. His Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena, 4555 N. Haven on Wednesday, October 16, 2013. Those wishing to join the family for Mass are asked to meet directly at the church. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.

The family would like to specially thank the doctors and nurses at the Hickman Cancer Center and Hospice of Northwest Ohio, for their compassionate care and support provided to Mike. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
